My family and was at a mall
yesterday and there was a car
exhibition on. We walked past and
a salesperson greeted us. He was polite and offered to show us around. 

At the end, we told him that currently we had no intention of changing our car. He was again very polite and courteous and he asked me if he could get my contact details in case he has future updates to share with me. As he had been very pleasant, I obliged.

This morning … upon checking my phone, he has found me on my Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn asking me if I could accept him as a friend/contact.

How many sales personnel are doing this today and getting/mantaining leads thru social media …..

Just saying “Sorry” isn’t good enough

Saying ” Sorry” is just a start.

Just a word.

Its about ” YOU “.
”  I wont do it again “

Well, they’ll have to wait and see if you keep your word.  Again its about ” YOU “.
” How do i make it up to you now  ?”

Thats action. It’s immediate.

Now, it’s about doing things right for ” THEM “.
Being sorry and being ready to loose something to make ammends to the other party tells about one’s sincerity.

Then its about “THEM“.
So when you say sorry the  next time …. “who” are you thinking for …. YOU or THEM ?

I was at the boarding gate “scanning machine point” this morning for a flight to Surabaya.

There were 4 people in front of me and they were talking, laughing and taking their own sweet time in taking off their belts, jacket, watches etc,  oblivious of the queue behind them.

I was annoyed and I am sure it showed on my face. Well nothing can be done, so I just waited.

It was then my turn. I reached out for a plastic container to put my watch, belt and handphone  ; and suddenly, this middle aged lady with her branded hand-bag,  jacket and 2 plastic bags just “jumped-queue” to the front of me and started unpacking her stuff to be put on the container.

Unbelievable !!  I had to wait again ? I was already ready to be scanned, and it was MY TURN !!

With anger, I took my container , walked pass her and shoved my hand carry and container thru the machine agressively.

Later, sitting in the plane, I realized that I was being petty and there was no need for me do what I did. It was infact a small matter.

It was ugly and I realized that I  had just behaved in a bad manner merely because of the insensitivity of others. What did I hope to achieve ? What did I want to prove ? Simply to beat her in the queue ?

I have thus been upset, displayed an ugly behavior and wasted some precious “emotional calmness” for myself.

Perhaps in this lady’s mind, she did not even know she was wrong and she did not even care what I did.

The point is – do not let other peoples’ weaknesses, lack of courtesy or misbehaviour bring out any anger or ugliness in us (as a reaction or a response).  It is not worth it and if we allow ourselves to become ugly, we then become “one of them” too.

PS : Applicable in meetings and our daily interaction in our professional lives too.

ONE-Day KL trip 2 March 2016.

After a tiring day of travelling, traffic jam,  heat,  meetings, which started at Jakarta since 5 am, I finally checked into the Grand Millenium Bukit Bintang at 7.30 pm. The reception was warm and courteous. Checking in was swift.

Went up to the room. The room had a pleasant smell and they ALREADY had the key-card slotted into the wall-card-slot and the air con was already switched on at a very nice cool comfortable temperature.

Ahhhhh heaven ……

What a great feeling.


After dinner at abt 10.30 pm

Me :  Hello, Concierge, I wish to book a taxi to KLIA tomorrow morning at 9.00 am.

CONCIERGE – Certainly Sir. To the old klia or klia 2 sir ?

Me – the old klia.

Conc : Just to make sure…. which flight are you on Sir ?

Me :  I am taking Garuda,  flying  to Jakarta.

Conc :  Then thats correct Sir. Garuda departs from the old Klia and you can check in at counter A.  And  we should allow  at least 1.5 hours for you to reach the airport in good time. You should arrive klia latest by 10.30 to catch your flight .

Wow ……what a great concierge.
