Wake up …. stop living in the past !!

“Relationship is certainly important. However, today, success does not only depend on “who you know” but more importantly – how good you are and what you are capable of. This is then the true meaning of “value” in one-self.”

I’d rather buy from a “STRANGER” who can perform for me, serve my needs and exceed my expectations versus from a FRIEND who can only offer mediocrity.

The ability to WRITE

You may be a very good sales person, a great engineer, a great speaker or a person with the gift of the gab …….

Bear in mind that you can then achieve EVEN GREATER SUCCESS & GROWTH when you are able to put your great thoughts and speech in writing; be it –

 –        to lead and direct your subordinates via simple & clear instructions

–        to submit quality reports to your superiors

–        to communicate relevant issues cross functionally to your peers

–        to sell a proposal/idea to external or internal customers

–        to force an action

–        to safeguard your position

Otherwise, your success will be stagnant and limited. Full opportunities will not be realized for (by)  you or your organization.

The WRONG type of STRESS !!

Professionally – One should be stressed only by external challenges. Example – beating competition, customer satisfaction etc.

However, it is a real pity that most people are stressed due to internal factors ….. office politics, bad superiors etc. Infact, this would be the main killer of productivity and creativity.

One tends to then focus to please the boss more than his/her external customers or make excuses for non performance and blaming others !!

Service Excellence

It’s one of those days that I get to meet poor sales people one after another.

14 Sept 2010 – was a holiday and I took my family out to Grand Indonesia.

First there was the sales girl at  Ad????  outlet who preferred to squeeze her black head or pimple vs. greeting customers and serving them.

Then, there were  2 sales girls at C & K  who were busily engrossed in gossiping with one another oblivious of customers around them seeking help.

Lastly, waiters and waitresses at D  K  restaurant who quickly said “no” even before checking on a very simple request, who did not know how to offer alternatives for items (on the menu) that were  not available, who failed to advise “how big” a portion of what we ordered would be , who failed to give a satisfactory answer and instead blamed their own people at HQ for failing to get my Membership Card ready after 5 months.

What a day ….. perhaps it was  “feng-shuically” a bad day to meet people.

 Went home after lunch ………..

I said to myself, ………………….. if these people were in my organization, they won’t be there for long !!

May these people with these “attitudes” are NOT PRESENT in NIRO !!
